The motive for creating - relevance of the meteorite threat.
We consider the situation banal known. Huge meteorite flies to Earth and humanity is urgently trying to do something about it. Time of fairytale movies is over. Humanity is not ready. But after the implementation of the PDS project, people can sleep peacefully.
Benefits of PDS in relation to other ideas of preventing meteorite threat.
Maximum ease of implementation, availability of development that can be adapted to the PDS for example: the development of military intercontinental missiles, the development of NASA, the development of high-powered weapons: atomic bombs.
Also, the PDS is an excellent opportunity to disarm. In my purely personal opinion irrational to write off such expensive weapons to lover the nuclear arsenal. It's inefficient because it is a waste of resources. Even the atomic bomb can find useful application.
How does the PDS structure?
PDS is an international organization which aims to protect the Earth from threats from outside. PDS is not independent. Decision-making is done by all of the manger countries, plus PDS works with a range of scientists from different organizations related to space (NASA).
How does the planetary defense work?
The first phase of this system is detection - Scanning System Outer Space (SSOS). A network of satiates and telescopes not necessarily PDS but possibly others that are capable. In addition to special telescopes to search meteorits owned by the PDS there are satellites that work for other goals but information can be gathered about meteors if they are capable.
After detection of space objects and calculation of trajectory a fret level is set depending on the meteor threat. In the case where there is a threat a weapons attack is set.
The first type of weapons for planetary defense is designed to prevent small to medium meteor threat. The second weapon is for large meteors. Objective is to change the trajectory of the meteor.
